Two Steps Back.

Things in the eye-sight dept. have been improving slowly, until this morning.
There's been a distinct deterioration in the vision in my left eye and the pain has returned.
The most disappointing aspect of this development being that it gives the medicos some justification for forcing their steroids into me.

Bugger.

Well DARN. That stinks :( I think there is a point where it becomes clear that the medication is the better path than the suffering. That is how it is for me, anyways. I don't like to take medication of any kind. Except sugar. And caffeine. And wine. OK OK, I have a bit of a drug problem, don't I.

Is there much risk to taking steroids? What The side effects of taking two weeks of corticosteroids don't sound too bad - not compared to losing vision an eye.

Thing is, having read everything I can on the subject, there doesn't appear to be much advantage to the steroid treatment. Clinical trials suggest, a year later, no difference between those having had the treatment, those on the placebo, and those who were just left to ride it out.
I'm not opposed in principle.
Anyway, the good news is things seem to have improved somewhat today.
So y'see, crossing my fingers and wishing works just as well as medical science!
