The Handyman's Pocket Book: Razor Hone Dressing.
Rouge powder shaken into molten beeswax and stirred thoroughly gives bite to a strop, but should not be used too freely as it may coarsen the edge. Roll the wax into a ball as it cools and rub on to the strop. Another and finer dressing is made from powdered burnt cork mixed with tallow.
