The Handyman's Pocket Book: Removing Silvering From Mirror.
Use as a stripper spirits of salt (hydrochloric acid) (poisonous and corrosive). The work should be done in the open air because of the fumes.

But why would you want to do that - turn a mirror back into a sheet of glass?
That is a very, very good question.
My grandma used to say "the looking glass is the devil's backside".
Maybe this is just advice on how to wipe the devil's backside.
