I awoke at 06:15 and spent a good five minutes trying to work out if that was the correct time or if it was acutally 05:15 (which is far to early to get out of bed on a Sunday morning).
I consulted my pod, which had migrated into a pillow-case during the night.
As my eyesight kicked in I checked Linda's DAB radio/alarm.
Both confirmed it was indeed 06:15.
I decided to risk it and peeled myself out of bed to do tea duty.
Linda-Little-Ray-of-Sunshine rose, grilled a couple of vegi-sausages (that remained disturbingly 'pink') and primped her bouffant.
It is now 06:50.
So, what does one do if you're awake, dressed and breakfasted at this hour on a Sunday morning?
Visit a Car Boot Sale, obviously.
We got to Fontwell Race Course before 07:30 and found that most of the 'booters' were still setting up their stalls.
First purchase of the day:
A Thing of Beauty |
I didn't even consider haggling.
I don't think it's ever made a slice of toast.
Along with an Alessi 'Flying Saucer' kettle, the Dualit toaster has been on my 'object of desire' list for around 12 years.
I nearly cried.
Next up, £5 on a mid-cent-mod cabinet:
Hmmm, wooden |
£1 bought me a bold statue:
For those about to strike |
And, last but not least:
Even more wooden |
Granted the scale it plays is around G# but what the hey, it makes a jolly noise.
It's still only 11.00.
Now what?
Update:
Linda insists that I include her purchases:
6 bare ladies and a mermaid |

the toaster looks as if it could fly if it really wanted to. very cool.
what does Linda do with the naked ladies?
I'm not sure what Linda does with the dolls.
I did ask, but the answer didn't help.
